99 DAYS

The countdown to the November elections has dipped into the double digits.  Hopefully everyone across America is getting to know their candidates.  In the interest of brevity I will just jump to the things I want from every single eligible voter 99 days from now and in the days between now and then...

1.  VOTE.  Plain and simple.  Get off your butt and cast your vote.  Now is the time to request your absentee ballot if you need one.  I don't care if you vote liberal, conservative, socialist or green... just vote.  I don't care if you vote Republican or Democrat, black or white, man or woman, gay or straight, Christian or Muslim, or apples or oranges... JUST VOTE!

2.  Vote for a person... not a party.  Voting the party line for the sake of doing so is ridiculous.  Not every Democrat is good, nor is every Republican bad and vice versa (and the Tea Party is not a collection of radical racists).  I personally believe the 2-party system is hurting America.  Voting for an independent or third party candidate is neither a bad thing nor a wasted vote... we must break that mindset for true "change" to occur.

3.  Vote FOR someone, not AGAINST someone.  Do not vote for someone simply because they are not the other person.  They may be worse.  Know your candidates and for what they stand. All of your candidates... it doesn't count if you just read about the one for whom you already plan on voting.

4.  Do your OWN homework!  If you make your decision based on CNN, MSNBC, or FOXNews you're voting for THEIR candidate.  Remember, the media has a vested interest in who gets elected.  And please, please, please... ignore smear campaign commercials.  There are a lot of resources to help you come to your own decisions rather than having the press make a decision for you.

Please everyone.  Our country is in tough times and the road ahead isn't looking any brighter.  I encourage everyone to be proactive in replacing the status quo in DC.  New ideas are needed, corruption needs to be expunged, and the incumbents need to be challenged to send a message to the those up for re-election in two years.

It's our country.  It's our choice.  It's our responsibility.

Please share this with everyone you know (there is a link to post this to your Facebook page at the bottom of the right-hand column) and feel free to share your thoughts or opinions below.

  1. Well said! The "system" can only be as effective as the PEOPLE running it, not politicians or interest groups. As a matter of fact, the largest "interest group" should be those citizens who are interested in what their selected candidates are going to do to them once they are in power. Wake up America! Show up & make a difference.
