OFF THE SUBJECT OF HCR...

I was disappointed and disgusted to wake this morning to news of idiots who think threats and violence are part of the democratic system. As an American first (before any political affiliation), I must say that there is no place for such infantile attacks. You do nothing to strengthen your cause by breaking an office window or threatening a person and their family. In fact, if anything you hurt your cause with such actions.

If you truly feel that strongly then compose yourself, compose your thoughts and challenge the system. Brute force tactics will have no effect, and no one is impressed by a phantom that can attack a glass door in the middle of the night, or swear at an answering machine. Everyone is tough when their hiding behind a telephone. Are you tough enough dedicate yourself to a cause for the long haul?

Think America. There are far better ways to express your anger. All these acts of the past day have done is give Liberals reason to bash Conservatives, and cost the American tax payers even more in the form of stepped-up security and repairs.

I call upon Republican leadership to condemn this behavior, and to do what is necessary to protect their Democrat counterparts. Even as far as to walk them to and from their cars if need be. I also call upon Democrats to recognize these are the actions of few misguided individuals and in no way reflect the mindset of the vast majority of Conservatives. Both sides would be terribly remiss to allow a handful of imbeciles to worsen an already strained situation.

  1. Hear, hear! If any of you out there are reading this, remember: DHS is looking for the "homegrown" terrorists as well! Like it or not, that is all threats and vandalism amount to. What's next? Martyrs and bombers?? For shame America...

  2. I agree. I believe violence is most often perpetrated by individuals who cannot understand that there are positive ways to deal with their anger. Part of that has to do with their upbringing, but some of it is because they choose to follow bad advise because they have no leadership skills of their own. Either way, you're right; the net effect will be to turn rational people against them.
BTW, I'm a Progressive, and I do not tar all Conservatives with the same brush (despite the perceptions of some); I do condemn anyone, of any political stripe, who uses violence as their first choice of action. Maybe we should do away with these ill-defined labels since no one really seems to know what they mean.

  3. I agree, I think the only political affiliation that is clearly defined and understood is anarchist. Beyond that there are "flavors" of every party... you can be a conservative and republican and federalist and so on and so on.

I think we're all independents now, but as is the nature of humans, we look for other with similar beliefs to rally behind (or with). I consider myself conservative only because they are the party that get the most checks in the block from me. I have many liberal views and even a socialist ideal or two.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there are no true "Liberals" or "Conservatives" any more, because the leaders of those parties can't even agree on issues.

    Thanks for your thoughts!! :-)
