VETTING OBAMA - PART II - IN HIS OWN WORDS

Welcome to my debut video. It’s rough, I’ll admit it, but this is my first foray into the world of video and editing. Expect more in the future.

VETTING OBAMA – PART I – IT BEGINS

The economy, albeit gradually, is still tanking. Eduardo Saverin, billionaire cofounder of Facebook has jumped ship and renounced his citizenship (last September). I can’t blame him, he’s not American by birth, and he’s about to make $5-$10 billion through Facebook’s IPO. I wouldn’t want to have to hand the United States $750,000,000 to $1,500,000,000 simply because I hold a U.S. passport either. Saverin is the poster child for what ails this nation. The wealthy are tired of paying MORE than their fair share. They are taking their money and their companies elsewhere. The government’s response? Capital gains taxes will increase by 3% next year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS – WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT

It’s December, what better time to have a little talk about religion?  I speak now to that small but growing group known as atheists.  Not all atheists, mind you.  Just you angry atheists who protest anything and everything religious.  You know how you don’t like it when “bible thumpers” try to tell you about their religion?  Well, some of us don’t like it when you try to tell us about yours.  Before we get too far, yes, atheism IS a religion.  If belief in a God (monotheism) is a religion, and belief of many gods (polytheism) is a religion, it would stand to reason that belief in no God (atheism) falls into the realm of religion as well.

SPEECH-GATE

The president needs a new secretary.  Supposedly the Obama administration had no idea that the Republicans had a primary debate scheduled for the exact same day and time the president wanted to speak to Congress.  If that is true then as Bob Schieffer said, "It's going to take a lot to convince me that the president's people did not know there was a Republican debate on the night that the president wanted to make that speech.  If they didn't know - the president's people didn't know - then I think it might be time for the president to get some new people."  You tell ‘em Bob!  Not bad for a liberal!

CONSERVATIVE FURY

A long-time, very dear friend of mine recently posted an article from the New York Times about the recent tragedy in Norway.  In true (NYT) form the piece opens with the words “A lone political extremist” and as would be expected is followed later in the story by, “Anders Behring Breivik [...] characterized by officials as a right-wing extremist.”  Well of course he is!

MAYBE OBAMACARE ISN'T SO BAD AFTER ALL

Little Sammy.
OK, maybe I’m wrong.  Maybe Obamacare is the solution this country needs.  After all it’s not like it’s the first controversial piece of legislation in the nation’s history.  Way back when Uncle Sam was just a baby we had a little thing called the Constitution.  They fought over that, too.  So I started to wonder, is Obamacare the next Constitution? (Videos are at the end.)

THE PRESIDENT IS AMERICAN!!

Alright, it's official.  The President of the United States of America is an American!  Finally, we can put that behind us.  Those of you who know me probably know my stance.  I am not a birther.  Truth be told I don’t consider whether he should be in office a problem, rather I feel the problem is that he is in office.  No I am not a birther, but I do feel that the birthers were asking a valid question that should have been addressed.  A question that could have, and should have, been answered long before today.  Instead, he waited two-and-a-half years to provide his proof1.

BUDGET AND THE DEBT CEILING

I think the best quote from the 2006 Congressional vote to extend the budget ceiling was the following, “The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.” Too true! Barack Obama nailed it when he said that. Yeah, THAT Barack Obama, y' know the one who promised to cut the national deficit in half by the end of his first term1. Reid was adamantly against raising the debt ceiling, also2

THE MYTH OF GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

So the liberal spin is that the Republicans are going to cause a government shut down. Hmm... The budget Obama wants to pass will put this country $4.5 BILLION further into debt every day. Not $4.5B in total spending per day, $4.5B IN DEFICIT SPENDING PER DAY. I don't care how much you tax the rich... that is unsustainable. The Dems should have been passed THIS budget LAST year. They are Constitutionally mandated to do so, but they didn't.

THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING

On December 13th, 2010, United States District Judge Henry Hudson ruled that portions of Affordable Care Act were unconstitutional1. With the lack of a severability clause (which was the result of the Democrats questionable methods of forcing the bill through) this could potentially void all of Obamacare. This fact was reiterated by Justice Roger Vinson who on January 31st, 2011, stated outright that, “Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void.

SHORT AND SWEET - VOTING PRESENT

Alright, let me start by saying I'm sorry.  I am looooooong winded.  I'm going to work on that.  From here on out the goal will be posts that are 3 paragraphs or less.  The end result will hopefully be a little more feedback (hint, hint) and allow me to cover more topics as it takes a considerable amount of time to write the novelettes I'm currently posting.  So for those of you that stuck it out with me, thanks and hopefully future blogs will be less painful.  With that said... the leader of the Unites States is stepping down!
